Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.
At Home Group it’s critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us (and not just during this challenging time). We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe we’ll engage with you digitally where possible.
We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who have fled domestic abuse and are rebuilding their lives. They live in either our shared house which has 7 rooms and can accommodate women and children or our self-contained flats that are a short walk away. We help our customers to move past their domestic abuse experiences, rebuild their lives and live abuse free
“I was broken and defeated with nowhere to turn when you met me at the local train station. You gave me sanctuary, safety and a place to heal so thank you from the bottom of my heart” Sue, former customer.
About our team
You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Kelly, she splits her time between supporting the team and working with our commissioners and delivering the service to our youngest clients through the children’s worker role.
There are 4 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! We have Jacqui who is our mental health specialist, she takes care of our second house and advises us when we need extra help with our clients diagnosed with mental health conditions. We also have Vanessa who has a wealth of knowledge and is a whizz with PIP, UC and HB claims, she works Monday, Wednesday and Thursday around her young family. Jayne works alongside Vanessa and is the newest member of our team, she has experience from a variety of different settings and has settled in with refuge life.
You’ll work between the hours of 9am and 5pm between Monday and Friday. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank. You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.
You’ll help change our customer’s lives (and our services) for the better by undertaking risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews. You’ll create bespoke and personalised support plans with and for your customers. Each plan will look to meet our customer’s individual needs and aspirations, making sure they meet safeguarding and confidentiality requirements. You’ll also have responsibility for coordinating our support workers, apprentices and volunteers, and working collaboratively with external agencies, to assess and engage support for our customers.
We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference!
Must be able to use tech
To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!) You’ll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system which means that you don’t have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go.
To make sure our customers are well supported, it’s important that you have worked in a supported service environment before, if that is a refuge environment even better. Don’t worry, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll help to you understand how things work at Home Group!
As this is a community-based role, you’ll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)
When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
