Role summary

You will be the Chief Information Security Officer at the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
DBS helps keep people safe in the UK by checking and protecting personal information.
You will lead how DBS protects its data and technology from cyber-attacks and other risks.
You will also be the Data Protection Officer, making sure DBS follows laws about privacy.
You will advise senior leaders and help DBS stay safe while using new technology.

Key tasks

Create and share a plan to keep DBS's information and systems secure.
Work with leaders to include security in all DBS decisions and projects.
Manage security risks and make sure DBS can handle emergencies and attacks.
Teach DBS staff about their role in keeping data safe.
Give expert advice on data protection rules and monitor compliance.

Skills and experience

Experience leading security and data protection in big organisations.
Have worked with senior leaders like the Board of Directors.
Able to manage risks and improve security systems.
Good at explaining technical and complex security ideas clearly.
Strong judgement and understanding of business needs.
