Role summary

You will lead work to improve water quality in the River Wye area.
This helps meet important laws about water and habitats in Wales.
The job is until 31 March 2027, with a chance to stay longer.
You will work to reduce pollution from farms and other places.

Key tasks

Lead plans to reduce pollution in the river catchment.
Give advice and check that rules about pollution are followed.
Work with others like farmers and land managers.
Support other officers with pollution problems not from farms.
Take part in managing incidents that affect the river.
Drive to farms and places needing visits. You must have a UK driving licence.

Skills and experience

Knowledge of water quality and pollution issues.
Ability to lead projects and give technical advice.
Good communication skills to work with partners and the public.
Experience in checking and enforcing pollution rules.
Able to work independently and make decisions.
Must hold a full and current UK driving licence.

Pay and hours

The job is fixed term until 31 March 2027, with possible permanency.
Flexible working hours are supported.
Office-based with some home working agreed.

Location and workplace

You will work from the NRW office in Mid Wales.
Travel to rural farms is needed, so driving is important.
Meetings and training may be online or in person.
