Role summary

The Senior Governor leads the University Court.
They help guide Aberdeen University’s future.
They make sure the University follows laws and rules.
The role is like being Chair of a big Board.
They act as a charity trustee to keep things fair and honest.

Key tasks

Lead meetings or arrange for the Rector to chair.
Make sure the University meets legal and governance duties.
Oversee University strategy, risks, and money management.
Support clear roles between leaders and managers.
Encourage open and fair decision making.

Skills and experience

Experience leading a big organisation or board.
Know how to chair complex meetings.
Good knowledge of rules and governance.
Strong strategic planning and financial skills.
Ability to be independent and honest.
Work well with different groups of people.

Pay and hours

You will get £22,000 for about 50 days’ work each year.
Expenses for interviews and the role will be paid.

Location and workplace

You will work with the University of Aberdeen.
The University is in Scotland.
You may need to attend meetings in person.
