Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home

We have a fabulous job opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We’re responsible for keeping our customers safe with our robust Health & Safety and compliance procedures whilst ensuring great customer satisfaction.

As our Estate Compliance Assessor, you’ll be responsible for the safety of our customers and staff by carrying out regular fire alarm and emergency lighting checks as well as estate inspections of our communal areas and grounds.

This post will be based from home initially and then from our office in Maryport (when we return to office working).  It’s a great “Out and About” role where you will spend most days visiting Home Groups North West (Cumbria) Region Properties.

Be yourself at Home

Home Group is committed to tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but for our colleagues too! We’re super proud of our internal Diversity Networks and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) which support colleagues from different backgrounds to be their true selves. We recognise and celebrate our differences, together we make Home Group a great place to work!

About you

It would be brilliant if you have worked in a safety inspection environment before however you don’t need and feel you have great transferable skills; we’ll still love to hear from you. We have great staff on hand to give you a full induction and training to feel confident in your role and won’t drop you in at the deep end and we’ll help you to understand how things work.

Here at Home Group we have invested heavily in our future and use current and up to date equipment. You’ll be issued with the latest kit, which includes personal safety devices, a Surface Pro and a mobile so it's important to us that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

As this is a community-based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a vehicle insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use! Best of all you’ll have the chance to shape your own diary as you’ll likely spend around 3-4 days per week on the road.

If you are successful, we need you to have a Standard Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service the costs of which are met by Home Group.

About our team

You’ll work for our Maintenance and Contract Manager James, who joined the team in 2020 and brings a wealth of knowledge from his British Gas background. Together there is 11 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! You will be working for Andy, our Lead Estate Compliance Assessor, along with the team of Ray, Will and Liam. All have a great deal of knowledge of the role and are always available to help and provide assistance.

Working hours

We need you to  be flexible, to meet the needs of our customers. This means you’ll work 37.5 hours a week over 5 days, Monday to Friday between 8am – 6pm. As we’re asking you to be flexible for us, we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you meaning you can build up flexi-time for those appointments or family gatherings you don’t want to miss!
