Job Description

Peabody have an exciting opportunity for the Head of Older People’s Services. This is a permanent, full time (37.5 hrs/week) position. The base of this role is to be determined, depending on the successful candidates location.

Peabody’s care and support services work with over 17,000 people across London, Essex and the South East. Our main aim, across all these services, is to offer people just the right amount of support to help them live happy, fulfilled and independent lives. As Head of Service, you will be responsible for 28 older people’s housing schemes, 2 resource centres and handyperson provision. Our older people’s services span across London and include sheltered housing, extra care housing, community facilities, community services, handyperson provision and day care services.  

As part of the department’s senior management team you will support the Assistant Director to ensure that the directorate achieves its strategic ambitions by developing and delivering high quality customer led services for older people.  

You will provide supportive, insightful and challenging leadership to ensure services are managed effectively and that we are delivering services and homes that we can be proud of. You will develop partnerships that support our ambitions to be a provider of integrity who collaborates with others to benefit people needing support and the community.

You will lead by example providing supportive, insightful and challenging leadership within a model of co-production with both customers and staff.

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm plus participation in an on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities

To develop the strategic direction and define the strategic aims and objectives of Older People’s Services.
To represent Older People’s Services at Leadership Team, contribute to the strategic direction of Peabody and carry out Leadership Team duties in line with corporate requirements.
To develop, set and deliver outcomes and performance indicators that enable a consistently high level of service to the business and customers.
To ensure an effective and timely repair service is provided to residents in Older People’s Housing.
To ensure the effective management of Peabody’s assets including our sheltered, extra care and community buildings as part of our asset management strategy.
To manage and develop people and resources to ensure the effective delivery of the Older People’s Strategy and Peabody’s business objectives
To ensure full compliance with all regulatory, statutory and internal requirements to minimise risk to the business, customers, residents and stakeholders.
To adopt an innovative, solution focused approach to provide sustainable, best value services for our customers.
To prepare and manage the annual departmental budget ensuring expenditure is in line with the service area, directorate and corporate business plans and that income is maximised wherever possible.
To strategically lead on the development and management of new and existing services for Older People.
To lead on the development of a new build programme, developing new housing schemes and new housing models for older and vulnerable people.
To promote Peabody’s image internally and externally and ensure effective consultation with key stakeholders at all levels.
To promote choice and opportunity for customers ensuring regular participation in the planning and delivery of services through a variety of consultation and involvement mechanisms.
To lead and promote a positive health and safety culture, ensuring, as far as practicable, that activities are carried out in accordance with Peabody Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Deliver performance in line with key financial and non-financial objectives within agreed constraints for capital, costs, expenses and risk.
Ensure the Group’s core policies relating to codes of conduct, diversity, customer care, people management and health and safety are fully implemented throughout the Directorate.
