The role

We’re actively looking for people to join our Solution Design Team which sits within the Chief Operating Office on a flexible full time basis.

Who are we?

Solution Design are part of the Transformation Function within the Chief Operating Office at Direct Line Group. Our remit is to shape new ideas and transformation initiatives that support the wider organisation in achieving its strategic objectives and key results. We’re a relatively small but diverse team, working cross-functionally to bring specialised expertise to projects, including Advanced Data Analytics, Automation, Digital and general organisational change.

We are looking for:

Someone with a passion for strategic and analytical thinking - who can relay their ideas and designs in Business and Technical terms.

Forward-thinking, collaborative and embraces problems. Able to spot new opportunities, motivate others and generate support for an idea to drive progress.

Experience of working in Business Change and Transformation. Either directly in a project-related role or indirectly. Able to take an idea from an initial brief and build a case for delivery. Making reasoned recommendations based on clear analysis and insight.

The ability to utilise data insight to inform opportunity. To understand data in the context of the commercial and operational processes of DLG and to use that insight to generate the right solutions.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Comfortable with ambiguity and knows how to operate in a complex environment.

Desirable Skills:

An advocate of Agile ways-of-working, with knowledge of Agile tools and methodologies (eg. Scrum, JIRA etc.)

Confident in presenting, challenging and influencing where required. Can communicate at all levels of business, from SME to Exec level.  

Understands the Insurance market and the strategic challenges we face.

Exposure to any of the following areas would be advantageous, but not essential: Data Analytics, Digital Transformation, Process Improvement, Automation, or Organisational Strategy and Design. 

What you’ll be doing:

Working at the forefront of strategic transformation initiatives, analysing business problems and pro-actively identifying opportunities to add value across the Chief Operating Office.

Using data to make recommendations. Turning complex analysis into an easy to understand and concise story, to gain approval of proposed solutions and plans. Including the elements of business cases, cost-benefit analysis, roadmaps and high-level requirements.

Lead the delivery of the solution. Managing development and operational teams to run a proof-of-concept and pilot ideas where appropriate.

Building a stakeholder network to facilitate change, by using the resources available in the team and across the wider organisation.

Providing ad-hoc support to projects based on your area of expertise.
