Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.
At Home Group it’s critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us (and not just during this challenging time). We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe we’ll engage with you digitally where possible.
We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team working with 5 homeless young people. We support our brilliant customers who are all 16 and 17 years old and who have previously been in a care setting (either residential or foster care) or who have become homeless due to issues within their family environment.
They live in a 5 bedroom house in Norwich. Each customer has their own bedroom and they share the kitchen, lounge and bathrooms.
We help our customers by developing a package of support that suits each customer’s individual needs. Our aim to prepare each customer to live safely and independently before they move on from our care.  We offer any support that will prepare and enable our young people to live independent lives. This may include things such as practical support learning how to cook and clean, budgeting, claiming benefits, advice on education, employment and training, developing social skills and providing emotional support.
About our team
You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Vicky Ethridge who has worked for Home Group for 17 years.   There are 5 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! We have Tammie who is our fantastic support coordinator and Brigita who is our wonderful support worker. We also have 2 brilliant night support worker, Lee and Keesha, and Vicky of course.  We are a very tight knit team and everyone is there to support and help each other as well as our young customers.
Working hours
You’ll work on a rota basis between the hours of 8:00 through to 19:30 and take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You may be required to do the occasional night shift to help cover our dedicated night workers when they are on leave. This includes a sleep-in period between 12:00 and 07:00 the next day. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
About you
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable young people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.
We help change our customer’s lives for the better. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. You’ll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference!
To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)
It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!
In this role, you’ll need to travel around to support your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (We pay your expenses to cover this use!)
When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
