Shaping our future with brilliant apprentices! That’s when it hits home.

At Home Group it’s critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us (and not just during this challenging time). We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe we’ll engage with you digitally where possible.

Our award winning apprenticeship programme has been designed to get our customers on the career ladder! (How awesome is that!) Don’t be put off by the word apprentice as you can be any age to apply.

So what’s so great about this apprenticeship? Well, your wage will be higher than the national apprenticeship minimum wage, so start planning what to spend that extra cash on! You’ll be employed for a 15 month period to get stacks of experience and launch your career! You’ll start at NVQ level 2 (equivalent to a GCSE) with a possible progression to level 3 (equivalent to A-levels) and many apprentices secure a permanent role with us! Who knows where future you will end up!

Some of our apprentices say "Working at Home Group enables me to do what I love, receive a wage and develop my skills" and "I would happily tell anyone thinking of becoming an apprentice that it provides a worthwhile qualification and experience that could lead to a very good career".

About the role

You’ll be working in our Wallsend service guided by our experienced Senior Client Services Manager, Susan, who has real passion for Care and Support. She’ll help you settle into your new role supporting a team of colleagues whose passion is to help our customers successfully achieve the outcomes outlined on their individual support plans.

You’ll provide customers with a ‘helping hand’ and assist with some tasks to develop and maintain basic life skills that allow independent living.

We take a person-centred approach in our work so caring and empathetic at the top of the ‘must be’ list for any applicant. But, don’t forget this is a learning role so we’ll teach you everything else you need to know, and you’ll enjoy being part of a larger team who are full of energy and ready to show you the ropes.

Hours of work are typically 9-5 with some weekend work

Please note any offer of employment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check through the DBS the costs of which are met by Home Group.

Who we’re looking for
You can apply for this apprenticeship if you are a current or former Home Group customer.

Ideally you will have good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and basic Microsoft Office Skills but before long you’ll be a real whizz!   You be great at working with people as part of a team, but must be able to work independently and use your initiative. You’ll be keen to learn from others how to prioritise and manage your work load, but an eye for detail is important.
