Salary: £40,222 - £41,440 per annum
ActionAid are recruiting for a Senior Women’s Protection Specialist to manage the provision of high-quality technical support and guidance on women’s protection programming in humanitarian crises.
We are looking to recruit an individual with solid proven experience of working in humanitarian contexts on women’s protection within an international development organisation.
Our Senior Women’s Protection Specialist will be responsible for providing input into the development of a new technical and policy identity aligned to ActionAid UK (AAUK)’s new strategic objectives.
You will be responsible for keeping abreast of and leading on global research on women’s protection, with a special focus on situations of protracted crises.
We will look to you to develop evidence of good practice, and to document key learning on all technical areas related to women’s protection in protracted crises.
An important part of this role will be to support in-country responses to meet ActionAid’s humanitarian standards and signatures (shifting power; accountability to affected communities; women’s leadership), in relation to women’s protection and with a feminist perspective.
In order to succeed within this role, you must have proven experience of managing research processes aimed at shaping development programmes or influencing policy.
You must also have proven experience of developing and delivering a training curriculum for building capacity on women’s protection and leadership in humanitarian and protracted crises.
You must have a proven track record of problem-solving and innovation, whilst working with a minimal amount of guidance.
We are keen to receive applications from those with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly develop effective working relationships with a diverse stakeholder group.
It is important that you have experience of public speaking and a proven ability to write detailed technical reports and of presenting key messages to a variety of audiences.
To succeed within this role, you must have experience of working at a regional or international level on policy/advocacy issues.
It is important that the post holder has an excellent knowledge of global protection frameworks and approaches, along with a good understanding and track record of the humanitarian architecture and conflict sensitive programming.
