Minority Disability Intersectional Discrimination Project Officer

Minority Rights Group International

Location: London

Salary: £28,206-£32,592 per annum

Job Description

This is a part-time post (2 days per week) based at the MRG office in London.

Salary: Grade D (28,206-32,592 per annum to be pro-rated to 2 days per week)

MRG is currently recruiting a Minority Disability Intersectional Discrimination Project Officer whose main purpose is to implement/advise all MRG staff who are involved in implementing a new project that will focus on exploring the intersectional discrimination experienced by minority and indigenous community members with disabilities.

The work will involve carrying out or advising on scoping and network building visits, drafting or commenting on shadow reports to UN and regional bodies, supporting the capacity building of MRG partners working on disability and building MRG’s links with organisations working with and representing people with disabilities who also experience discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, race, language or religion. Some of the work will be personally delivered by the post holder but the post holder will also advise staff who are experts on a particular country as to how to best incorporate the project activities within their ongoing work in that country.

Although the primary purpose of this post is as described above, the post holder may be required to work partly or wholly on other areas of MRG’s work.  This is to allow MRG to move staff away from work which is un-funded or under-funded or is no longer a priority for the organisation, to work on areas which have more funding, are growing or which are understaffed.  This will normally involve the post holder in carrying out tasks similar or identical to those listed in this job description but applied to different programmes or projects.
