Positive About Disabled People

Training Course

This means the employer has made some specific commitments regarding the employment of disabled people. As part of this, you are guaranteed an interview if you meet the minimum conditions for the job vacancy.

positive about disabled people Employers who use the "Positive About Disabled People" symbol have made these five commitments:
  • to interview all applicants with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and to consider them on their abilities

  • to ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss, at any time, but at least once a year, with disabled employees, what you and they can do to make sure disabled employees can develop and use their abilities

  • to make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment

  • to take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make sure the commitments  work

  • each year to review the five commitments and what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and the Employment Service know about progress and future plans

When you see the disability symbol on job advertisements or on job application forms it means that if you meet the minimum criteria for the job, the employer will guarantee you an interview.
